A live edge slab is a solid piece of timber cut lengthwise from the tree with its natural edge left intact, so the original contour of the trunk becomes the edge of your table top. Every live edge slab at Wood Capitol is a single piece, with no joints or fillers, which is why no two tables we make are identical.

2. What are the benefits of choosing a single-slab table top?

A single-slab table top is made from one continuous piece of hardwood, preserving the natural grain without joints interrupting the surface. It does not rely on multiple boards being glued together to create the required width.

Our table tops are selected as solid single slabs without book-matching, joints, epoxy resin or filler patches. This creates a cleaner appearance, avoids grooves where dust and liquids may collect, and provides more solid timber for future sanding or refinishing.

3. Can I buy just the wood slab without legs or fabrication?

Yes. You can purchase a raw or finished wood slab on its own, choose from our range of table legs, or have us fabricate a complete table. Individual slabs can also be customised for applications such as shelves, counters, and wall-mounted work surfaces.
